Infact whatever you do with the mouse you can do without it and you can easily learn to use some really great keyboard shortcuts to make your work fast even with a mouse later."

Online test calculates brain speed

As some researchers examine brain functions with advanced imaging technology, other scientists are measuring brain speed with the click of a mouse.

San Francisco-based Posit Science unveiled a program in recent weeks that tests how fast a person’s brain can process information, based on his or her hearing speed.

"Auditory processing speed is important because much of the information we receive each day is communicated through sound–especially speech," according to Posit Science, which has developed software that promotes brain fitness. "The faster we can take in information accurately, the better we can keep up with, respond to and remember what we hear."

The 10-minute online test, at the company’s Web site, measures how fast and accurately the test-taker can detect different sounds, by having the test-taker click on arrows. Once finished, the test-taker will receive a measurement of his or her brain speed, down to the millisecond.

In your 20s, the average speed of auditory processing is 68 milliseconds. That number jumps to an average of 87 milliseconds in your 40s and 106 milliseconds in your 60s.

Johansson Tops FHM’s ‘Sexiest Women’ Poll

FHM SexiestScarlett Johansson tops a lovely list of the "100 Sexiest Women in the World," in a poll of readers by FHM magazine.

"One of the best things for a woman to hear is that she is sexy," the 21-year-old actress, star of "Match Point" and "Lost in Translation," said in a statement. "I’d like to thank FHM’s readers for the huge compliment."

Angelina Jolie is No. 2 on the list, followed by

Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry,
Jenny McCarthy, Maria Sharapova, Carmen Electra and
Teri Hatcher.

Johansson ranked ninth on last year’s list. Jolie was No. 1.

"It’s remarkable how Scarlett Johansson has caught the attention of our readers," said Scott Gramling,
the magazine’s U.S. editor in chief, in a statement. "Her sultry voice and striking beauty certainly
have a lot to do with that, but so does the confidence she exudes."

"She seems to be one of those women who would be equally at ease on the red carpet as she would just hanging out with the guys."

In case you missed

  • Scarlett Johansson tops this year’s FHM "100 Sexiest Women In The World" poll.
  • Reese Witherspoon is sick and tired of the press’ speculation that her marriage to Ryan Phillippe is on the rocks. Phillippe, meanwhile, is just happy to get a mention.
  • Ocean’s 13 is gearing up to start filming, but Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones won’t be involved. And after seeing Ocean’s 12, neither will  I.
  • Bruce Willis thrilled Bruce Willis fans by appearing on stage with the Allman Brothers on Friday night. Allman Brothers fans said to be devastated.
  • Morrissey is boycotting Canada on account of their annual seal hunt. Seal boycotting Canada for the exact same reason.
  • Jen Aniston may marry Vince Vaughn at Oprah’s house.  Actually, the house is so impersonal, why not just do it in the studio? With the cameras and the live studio audience?
  • Katie Holmes is getting more pregnant by the minute. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise is getting smaller by the second.

Berlusconi says Maoist communists boiled babies

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, fighting for re-election against a centre-left coalition which includes the hard left, said on Sunday that communists had a history of boiling babies.

"I have been accused many times of saying communists eat babies," he told a rally of his Forza Italia (Go Italy!) party.

"Go and read the black book on communism and you’ll find that under Mao’s China they didn’t eat babies but they boiled them to fertilise the fields.

"They say we look to the past too much, but they forget that in the opposition there are three parties who proudly call themselves communists."

Berlusconi has often been accused of being obsessed with the "communist threat" in Italy, a country where during the Cold War the communist party was bigger than anywhere else in western Europe.

In the run-up to winning the 2001 election, Berlusconi said: "I can organise a conference in which I will prove communists have really eaten babies and done even worse things."

With the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union, most of the Italian Communist Party transformed itself into the Democrats of the Left, now Italy’s main opposition party.
